Consultation on this year’s winter timetable for the Craignure-Oban service began months later than it should have, due to uncertainty surrounding the closure of Uig whilst it is upgraded in preparation for the arrival of Hull 802. Although draft timetables were apparently in circulation within CalMac as early as July, none were shown to the Ferry Committee until September. They could and should have been shared with us much sooner. We were faced with a very compressed and late consultation on a complex set of timetables. We concluded our consultation on October 3rd, but it took another 18 days to get the finalised timetables to print – meaning the winter timetables were only released on Friday October 21st, 3 days before they were due to start!… more in the printed issue
