We were over in Oban for the U19 Group Fiddle Competition of the Royal National Mòd on Saturday 12th October and Mull Music Makers were placed first! The group of eight gold medallists from across Mull with an age range of 9 to 16 years played against really strong competition. The adjudicator, esteemed fiddler, Marie Fielding, praised the group for their overall performance and loved the creativity in their playing. They performed a multi-part set which included a beautiful rendition of An t-Eilean Muileach which was cleverly bridged with intriguing harmony parts into Fergie MacDonald’s Jig Runrig – a fitting nod to the late, great Ceilidh King who passed away earlier this year…. more in the printed issue
