The Beatsons Building Supplies Mull Rally was back this October with a vengeance, with the weather and the tricky course playing their part.
For the first time since it started running as a closed road rally, there was no Muileach in the top 3 – top-seeded local boys Paul Mackinnon and John MacCrone drove the pace early on, but both suffered mechanical failure during the second leg on the Saturday, and had to withdraw. In their absence Mull podium regular Daniel Harper and co-driver Chris Campbell took their mini into the top spot, Daniel finally achieving his ambition of repeating his 2002 win. Young Fergus Barlow from Tobermory came close to a ‘podium’ finish, with an impressive 4th place – he is definitely one to watch… more in the printed issue
