Salen Show

Show day in Salen on 13th August started off muggy, with thundery showers expected, but this did not put off the show goers, who attended in their droves. Attractions included the ever-popular bouncy castle and rodeo bull, with the have-a-go archery run by Mull Archers and Chainsaw Pete’s carving also attracting a lot of interest. There were a good number of stalls offering all kinds of food and informing about or fundraising for local groups. We particularly enjoyed Duncan Swinbanks’ stall for the Indoor Sports Hall, with its many different activities.
Show goers are getting used to seeing film crews at the Salen Show, and this year there were two separate crews, one following Banjo and Ro again for their next series about Ulva House Hotel, and the other filming for the new series of ‘This Farming Life’. We are sworn to secrecy over who the filming involves – however anyone who attended the show can likely make a good guess! This is due to be screened in January or February 2027, so look out for that… more in the printed issue
