Turtle Travels

By Moira Kerr
A tropical turtle embarked on a second incredible journey after it had travelled 4000 miles off course to the Isle of Iona. Walker Jane Kindlen began a rescue mission when she found the loggerhead turtle, more normally found in warmer climes around Florida, on a deserted beach.
After seeking advice from British Divers Marine Life Rescue Jane escorted the turtle on a ferry to a friend’s house on Mull, where it was driven 50 miles to Tobermory for an overnight stay in Mull aquarium.
It was then taken 21 miles to Craignure, to catch the ferry to Oban on Friday January 28, before being driven another 75 miles to be cared for at Sea Life, Loch Lomond… more in the printed issue
