Argyll & Bute Council has now opened its promised consultation on the proposed Visitor Levy, which we covered in detail in last month’s issue.
We urge you to give your views at www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/visitor-levy . The consultation will be open until 10th April 2025.
The council seems very keen to push this through, so if you believe it will be detrimental to tourism and indeed daily life in Mull & Iona it is very important to state your case.
Make no mistake, this will affect us all. And rather than being a tax for visitors, as its name implies, this is actually an accommodation tax. What’s more, VAT will be charged on top, so basically a tax on a tax!
