“The most hotly anticipated reboot in history”, said the Scotsman. Yes, back by popular demand is the classic children’s tv series, Balamory. Filming took place over a very wet couple of weeks last summer, and on 17th April production company Lion TV were back to premier Balamory 2 in Tobermory, and to thank everyone on Mull for their patience and support for the show.
After an exclusive afternoon children’s screening, representatives of the production company, Lion TV, joined a packed audience at An Tobar. Richard Bradley, Chief Creative Officer at Lion, explained that CBBC is the last bastion of live-action children’s tv. Animation series can be dubbed and distributed worldwide, but they don’t have the warmth and immediacy of watching real people in human situations. Balamory is precious precisely because it’s live action, and because at its heart are friendship, teamwork and kindness. A nostalgic sigh passed through the audience as Richard quoted Floella Benjamin: “childhood lasts a lifetime”… more in the printed issue
