Bunessan Easter Run 2023

Considering the forecast of strong winds there was a good turnout of both runners and spectators for this year’s Bunessan Easter Run, Loopy Run and Children’s Fun Run. As it turned out the wind wasn’t as strong as had been predicted; it was enough to make the course more challenging however, and Stewart Greenway’s record for the Easter Run of 36 minutes and 42 seconds did not look under threat. This did not put off the thirteen hardy souls who braved the Loopy Run of just over 8 km nor the sixteen who took on the Easter Run of just under 11km. There were fifteen children registered in the 8 and under run and eight in the 11 and under. Two young lads from Ormsaig did arrive almost five minutes after the start of the children’s run but decided to give it a go anyway and, given their position at the end, would have almost certainly finished in the top three. Their father has said he’ll have them ready for the start next year!
Before the start and during and after the run, the spectators availed themselves of the burgers, hot dogs and home-baking from the barbecue stall run by Bunessan PTA in aid of PTA and school funds. I can testify that the burgers were delicious!… more in the printed issue
