Bunessan Easter Runs 2022

After the absence of the last two years, due to the COVID restrictions, it was great to be able to hold the Bunessan Easter Runs: the main Road Race; the Loopy Run and the Children’s Fun Run on Easter Sunday, 17th April. However, with the ‘double whammy’ of a poor forecast for the day, and an ‘Old Firm’ Scottish FA Cup semi-final in the afternoon, we were wondering if we’d get much of a turn-out of runners and spectators. Our fears were unfounded, though, as the folk in the Ross are a hardy bunch and a good sized crowd soon gathered. Even the forecast rain held off a bit until near the end.
The main Road Race, just under 11km, and the Loopy Run, about 8km were both started off just after 12.30.
Seb Copping from Wiltshire crossed the line in 36 minutes and 59 seconds to win the Loopy Run and John Docherty, Fionnphort and Oban, won the Main Road Race in 48 minutes and 30 seconds. John had won the previous Road Race in 2019.
Everyone who participated in any of the races or Runs should be congratulated, well done to all… more in the printed issue
