Last month we printed a letter from myself to Scottish Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth in which I pointed out that the designation of MV Loch Frisa as the core vessel on the Oban-Craignure route is an absolute scandal and that since both CMAL and CalMac are wholly owned by the Scottish Government, in my opinion ‘the buck stops’ with her. I further asked her to let the people of Mull & Iona know what she intends to do about it. I have now at last received a response, and you will not be surprised to learn that the answer is that she intends to do precisely nothing! Indeed in her reply Ms Gilruth ignores the fact that MV Loch Frisa has now (without any form of consultation) been designated our core vessel, and plays down the difficulties of the Loch Frisa only timetable… more in the printed issue
