From Tormore to the National Museum

David Faithfull, one of the late Joan Faithfull’s sons, contacted us recently to let us know that her potter’s wheel and a selection of her pottery has been gifted to National Museums Scotland (NMS). Alice Wyllie of NMS says “This is a donation of 24 pots by Joan Faithfull (1923-2017) along with eight maker’s stamps and her pottery wheel. They have been donated to us by her sons, David and John, who worked with our curators to select the pieces for donation.”
Joan Faithfull set up her pottery at the family’s house at Tormore, near Fionnphort, in 1951 and operated there (while also making pots in Edinburgh) for five decades… more in the printed issue
