The return of the Tobermory pantomime after 5 long years met with huge acclaim and almost raised the roof of the newly re-furbished Aros Hall, running for 4 nights from 13th – 16th December. This year’s choice was ‘Hansel and Gretel’, and NOMADS put on a fantastic show, in spite of being beset by countless problems – including a lack of electricity right up until the day before the first performance, necessitating in the painting of scenery by torchlight! Huge congratulations to all those concerned for pulling this off, especially the inestimable Barbara Weir, who was drafted in as producer as late as the second week in October.
The largely young and relatively inexperienced cast made a wonderful job of creating the proper pantomime atmosphere – aided by old hands Shona Reade as Miss Daisy Demeanour and Susie Carmichael as Willie, who had us all in stitches with their antics and made sure the audience participation didn’t flag… more in the printed issue
