Highland Games Centenary

This year’s games, held on 20th July in Tobermory, marked the 100th centenary of the Mull Highland Games being held at Erray Park (and also 150 years since the first known Highland Games in Tobermory). To mark this occasion Eric Macintyre, himself a member of one of the families central to the games over the years, had organised a ‘pageant’ involving several generations of key families – illustrating how the younger generations are following in the footsteps of their forebears. This included a lovely rendition of ‘Highland Cathedral’ on the pipes by young Lindsay Kirsop. Eric had also written a history of Mull Highland Games, which was on sale at the games field… more in the printed issue
