Lifeboat Baby Comes of Age

Not many babies are born on board a lifeboat, but for that select few the RNLI has a special tradition – on turning 18, the young person is presented with a ship’s bell engraved with his or her name and date of birth. For Emma Cato of Fionnphort that day came in November 2023, as she was born on board the Oban lifeboat ‘Mora Edith Macdonald’ in 2005.
Emma and her parents were invited to visit Oban lifeboat station and treated to a second trip on the lifeboat, visiting the spot Emma was born, which brought back memories for Rachel and Glenn… more in the printed issue
