Local Mòd

The Mull Mòd took place this year on the 8th and 9th of September in Tobermory. We had a record number of entries, with an estimated 300 children competing (once choirs and action songs were taken into consideration) on the Friday, and over 120 adults on Saturday. Because of the huge amount of entries, we also needed more venues than ever on the Friday, and once again used the school community bus to provide a shuttle service for the competitors and spectators wishing to use the venues at the top of the town. Our 10 venues included the Scout Hall, Glen Iosal, the Tobermory Parish Church, Bar Beag in MacGochan’s and the wee tasting room in the Distillery along with our “usuals,” the Masonic Hall, Free Church and Halls, and Aros Hall.
With so many venues, of course, we also needed an unprecedented number of chairpeople, doorpeople, stewards and runners, so we were incredibly grateful to accept the help of over forty volunteers to fill these roles and more… more in the printed issue
