The Mull Half Marathon and 10k took place on the 22nd July and attracted 200 entrants from many parts of the UK and abroad. We had restricted the number to 250 as there was a change of leadership, and after Covid and Calmac problems, we were being a bit more cautious about numbers.
As it turned out, it was a superb day for running, the ferries were on time and many people stayed on the island overnight. It was a really relaxed and well organised event with quite a few local runners, and a group of runners and supporters from Iona, which added to the ‘local and friendly’ feel to the event. What was also great to see were the number of locals who came forward to help, for which we are very grateful.
The overall winner for 1st place in the Half Marathon was John Fergusson from East Kilbride Athletic Club in a great time of 1:13:11. 1st female winner was Jessica Watson in 01:29:50… more in the printed issue
