The rock fall at Gribun has given the Mull Rally organisers a significant headache for the 2025 route. The stretch from Kinloch to Knock offered 3 stages, none of which can now practically be delivered. With the loss of those stages, the distance to the Ardtun stage would not be tenable for competitors, so regrettably that stage has been cancelled too. The combined impact of these lost stages is about 35 miles, so the organisers set about looking at ways to build additional competitive miles in the North of the island.
An intense period of discussion with stakeholders, both on the island elsewhere, culminated in a meeting with Argyll & Bute Council on the day of the Salen Show, where they backed our proposals for late additional road closures (normally these are agreed 9 months before the event!). Since that decision, we have moved to update the community and competitors as these new arrangements will have a wide impact… more in the printed issue
