New Year Shinty

This year’s shinty match, held at Ardalanish beach on New Year’s Day, was as usual a lovely social occasion, helped along by the hot soup laid on by the Smith family. The day was bright, but with a cold wind, and the low tide allowed ample space for shenanigans – which were plentiful, including the use of two sticks by one player (who shall remain nameless), also an inadvertent episode of ‘stick throwing’. This was in addition to the now traditional use of two balls simultaneously, which because of the relatively low numbers of players led at times to two separate games… more in the printed issue
