The Show Must Go On… Must Go On!
What a start for the 2025 panto! Storm Bram meant that the dress rehearsal had to be cancelled; and the cast were plunged on to the stage on the first night, overcoming this hitch to bring the laughter, magic, song and dance of Rapunzel to an appreciative audience at the Aros Hall.
But more drama was to come. Denise Baxter, who played Dame Beatrix, was struck down by the flu on Friday afternoon and it looked as if it was curtains for this year’s panto. But in true theatre fashion, Sammy Bish, who played the minor part of Gracie (in addition to providing the show’s superb choreography) stepped up with less than a day to learn the Dame’s lines… more in the printed issue
